Bleed Risk

The risk of bleeding is a significant concern for many physicians and healthcare professionals who care for patients with atrial fibrillation and at risk for stroke. One of the most important elements weighing the risk of bleeding on anticoagulation is to assess it along with the risk of morbidity and mortality from stroke.

The HAS-BLED Scale describes patient characteristics that affect bleeding risk. HAS-BLED is an acronym for: Hypertension, Abnormal liver/renal function, Stroke history, Bleeding predisposition, Labile INRs, Elderly (age >65), Drugs/alcohol usage.

What is VTE?

To help you understand more about VTEs (which are basically blood clots), and feel more comfortable about your health, we invite you to view this brief Emmi® program. Emmi programs support you in managing your care and will answer many of the questions you may have. You can watch it as many times as you like and share it with your family and friends.
